Was just going through my things for hunting stuff and found my OLD Seaes Blaxe Orange hunting coat Dad bought back in about 1970.
Excellent condition with the tags still atached.

Wonder if it is worth much?

try to find it on ebay and see what others will pay for it. some people collect sears stuff. I have a ted williams shotgun, was letting the kids use it in hunter safety, friend told me I should not let them use it as it was a collectors item. do not know if it is true or not but if you find someone else selling one it will give you an idea of the price

Kruser, you make me feel like I am out of touch with the world,I wear mine every winter season. LOL
Seriously, blaze orange is only required on public land and a few other cercumstances in Tx. I don't go near public land, much less on it to hunt. When I started the grandsons deer hunting,I pulled out all the old red plaid shirts and jackets and showed them pictures in old hunting magazines. They thought they were way cool and even had a couple of old timers comment on thier shirts. I bought blaze caps and vests for them to wear while hunting but they injoy wearing the plaids in camp and while traveling. Hopfuly your dad is still around so you can show it to him. Take my word,it will give him good memories.

I am with Hoofprint about the shot gun. Besides that,I injoy my son and grandsons hunting with my guns eventhough a couple are quite valuable and some others are worth more than new ones. Some were passed down from dad and granddad with the same instructions I give. "If I see you pushing a fence down with one,you will never use it again while I'm living" "If I see rust on one,I will take it back". "If I find one stored uncleaned",I am taking it back". There are a few nicks and scratchs picked up during use but that is inevitable.

Some were built by Winchester and some by others, mostly Remington. Sears bid out all thier manufacturing every few years.
Since Kruser's thraed has already been hopelessly jacked,I have story about how smart Sears big shots were. Sears marked Belgium made Brownings down 50% when they discountinued them and started selling those made in Japan. I worked for Sears at the time and bought all I could afford and would have borrowed money against my soul if I could have. Naturaly some aquantances and family were poed because I wouldn't sell to them at what I paid.

I remember the RED Ted Williams hunting coat mom and dad bought me when i was 14 , my god was that thing warm , back then we had winters that set in by the first week in Nov. and stayed till late March or even into the middle of April . Back then i use to hunt everyday that we were allowed to . There were five of us that would meet and go hunting together . Yep five Kids meeting up and none of use over 15 walking down US 224 to the city limits and heading into the field . No adults and every evening we would have our take and headed home . No cops bothering us no goffy citizens calling the cops just five young teenage boys with our guns and one dog . I had a double barrel 12 Ithaca Roy had a Ithaca 20 gauge feather weigh pump . Mike had a J C Higgins 410 bolt action Bruce had a Browning mark 5 16 gauge and Steve had a Harrington and Richardson 16 signal shot . Now today there is a Plaza and Apartments where we use to hunt . Couple years ago i saw two young guys walking past the house headed out of town with there shotguns and the next thing i saw was four cop cars stopping them and checking them out . Myself i think may RED coat stood out better then the orange of today.

I have a Sears Ted Williams blaze orange coat that I believe I bought in 1973. Just went and tried it on. Little snug, still can raise the shotgun ok though. Been wearing lighter blaze orange mixed camouflage for last many years. Only wear blaze orange cap unless firearms deer season is open then you have to wear more orange hunting pheasants here in MN. Well, have to go now. Try to find one of those birds. They are scarce this year.
