Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease has killed a fair amount of deer in Michigan at times. I don't know a lot about it, seems that it is a viral disease, and dead deer are normally found near a water source. Google found this in Ohio.
EHD has been confirmed in Butler, Clermont, Clinton, and Highland counties in Ohio in 2013.

Rick if I remember you are close to where I hunted this year, Coshoctin. I know that area got hit real hard with EHD or Blue tongue the past two years. We found a few dead ones out there in the summer. This late in the year that wouldn't be the case. I would say coyotes maybe got one or two. And the other could be a car, maybe an arrow, or could be just natural. Were they malnourished? If so then I would dare to say CWD and if thats the case call the division of wildlife and have them tested.

That sounds kind of strange, I would call your local game and fish people, if there is a disease they should know about it as quickly as possible.

ODNR should be contacted to have them tested for disease.

You said that you didn't find any holes in them, but I would suspect that first. Could they be shot with a rifle by poachers? A small hole from a rifle might not be easily seen, especially if some dingbat shot them with a .22. Just a thought.

Is there a crossing nearby?
All in same area suggests a crossing where they were hit by cars or poached from the road. If they were shot, small cal fmj projectiles would explain lack of noticable wounds. There are a boat load of idiots with, ahem,,,gulp,,assault rifles just itching to shoot at something with a banna clip filled with surplus 223 cal fmj ammo.

We lost them by the hundreds around here last year, but there's a midge fly that causes that. The big die off here was about the last week of August, first two weeks of September. I'd think it would be too late for EHD now.

I have found that the deer killed by the hemoragic disease are usually in the heat of summer, and found near water. Sounds a little late for it to me. But I aint no expert.

WHY is this an issue? I see dead deer, birds, coons, bunnies, etc. on a regular basis on the thousand acres I own and so do my neighbors. We go on with life and do what we need to do on a daily basis, "cuz I think it"s "nature"s way".

i have never found a dead deer on my in the past unless it had been shot three in two weeks 300 yrds apart on a 10 acre wooded area is a issue for me .
