F12 Pistons and rods

Isnt it normal to always put the stamped number on the rod on the cam and liftr side of the motor.The F12 rods are a straight rod so I dont think it would matter

I think it depends on the engine. I think the numbers on an Allis WC face the right side of the engine (opposite the lifters), but I would have to look at the service manual to be sure. The rods are not straight on a WC and must go in a specific way.

If the rod shell is centered with the rod, it should not matter. Most rods are not, and the offset end usually faces the crank. Looking at the center of the rod, the side with the most shell metal, that's the part that goes to the crack side,

Make sure your pistons are facing the right direction. Most have an arrow that points to the front of the engine or they say front on them. Reason being pistons have a thrust side to them. As the piston goes down on the power stroke it gets forced to one side of the cylinder which is the thrust side. This is very important you get this installed correctly.
