OT: Buck Deer Antler damage to young trees

Any body got a good solution to this problem other than dogs, guns, or night vision? I have to ring each tree with 4-5 steel fence posts. Took them off one tree about 12 feet tall, next thing I know the buck ripped off any branch below 5-6 feet!

Bow and arrow?

Beyond that, is there some way for you to make the area less off the beaten path. Perhaps you could park a tractor near the tree, hang some laundry nearby, park the truck over there for awhile, park some equipment in that area? I would think if you were in that area more, it would be less desirable to wildlife. Then again, maybe the deer in your area are comfortable with people being around. The good news is the rut will be over soon and it should stop then.

I use 11 ga welded wire fence and two fence posts.make a circle with the fencing about 3 feet in diameter and stake it around the tree. I have these on all my fruit trees, prolly about 30 or so trees. Even keeps the beavers from getting them.

Deer repellent spray works pretty well. Wears off after a couple of months, but rut will be over then anyway.

Afraid of people? Deer are snacking on apples in my
front yard - nightly. Even with hunters prowling all
over - five deer taken off our farm in the last two
days.

A bunch of big treble hooks and some 550 cord? He will be so tired out in the morning that you can use a knife.

I used electrical tape and after awhile it started rotting the tree under the tape and sort of choking the tree. This was some good high voltage splicing tape. I think the guy that said bow and arrow might have the solution.
