MN and MI in full swing, WI next Sat., this youngster is still out chasing does,,,,got this pic on Monday during our first measurable snowfall and saw him again last nite right below the bow stand....to keep this tractor related, today I am putting the snow blades on the 860...rain today and tomorrow.

Good luck to all for a safe hunt and filling the freezer.

You got more snow out of that system than we did here. Which is OK with me. Getting ready here, but it seems like I'm never completely ready by opening day. Put some more insulation and carpet in the stand yesterday... keep the boys and me warmer, plus keep things quieter. I hope I can get some corn combined in the next few days...get the fields opened up a little anyway.
Haven't heard from Ultra if he's filled his tag yet or not...maybe he's just been sleeping in that blind he built?
And if we need to keep it tractor related... I got the loader off the 850 my cousin bought, and his brother is hogging some trails near the stands with it.

Yes...know the feeling about never being quite ready...that's part of what it's all about...keep the boys warm and interested and they will hopefully keep the tradition alive!

Here is a buck one of my "little boys" got earlier this year..this is his 24th Season...that's me with the white whiskers...still waiting for a bigger one..:>)

Texted the Dawg earlier today...have not heard if they got anything yet....maybe he is sleeping....cold and wet down by me today....got the plows on....have a surging under load, so may look at the carb yet today.

Good luck to you and your group...my brother and crew still hunt N. of Hwy 8 along the Flambeau....

BIL will be out on his woods land in the north woods next week then, but mostly he ends up cooking for his friends that hunt on his land.

I just returned from my shop where I met the guys hunting my mountain this year. Offered me the entire buck, but I only took a ham. Regular rifle started today, they are still looking for the large bucks, but the smaller ones are more common. Visibility today was only about 100 feet.

First year for these guys here, and they"re tickled pink. Changing groups strikes me as a PITA, they were shocked that the group that hunted here for 20 years didn"t want to meet the offer I"d gotten last year. Then that guy decided not for this year, and I was looking around again.

These brothers, and I, hope we have a mutually satisfactory relationship for the next 20 years. I"m a good hour closer than where they were hunting, and no red mud here. Still waiting for my portion of bear. Their game cameras showed at least 7 different ones.

I had two or three does about 30 yards or less away this morning but it was too dark to get them in the scope on my Contender. All I saw were dark shapes and eventually white flags. They made me almost as soon as I got in my blind. The wind was wrong and I heard them snort a half-dozen times but they still came out. Nothing between me and them but open field and darkness. Looked at my watch after they disappeared and it was just 7:13. I might have fared better if it wasn't so cloudy.
