Hydraulic question - adding a backhoe to a IH 706

How do I do this properly? I have a smaller backhoe I want to attach to the 2 point of a IH 706. The backhoe has the traditional Pioneer couplers on the two hoses. Do I just hook it up to one of the tractors hydraulic outlets and tie the tractor hydraulic lever down and then use the levers on the valves of the backhoe? Thank you for your help.

Yes that will work.

But I would want a third link of some sort to attach to the tractor.

I"m afraid you will snapped them 2 pt arms off unless you baby the heck out of it.

Don't know what the hydraulic pump puts out on a 706, but I'd look into that before I did anything. Backhoes want about 15+ GPM to work at combat speed, and many older tractors have about 5.

706 is 12gpm.You will have a SLOW backhoe. Especially useing a 'remote. A 'power beyond' circit is advised.A remote pto pump is best. And a heavy duty top link is a must!

Right you are Delta Red, it is advisable to do as you stated, a pto pump and a remote resevoir for the backhoe. We looked into the same thing, but we never put one on ours.

Backhoe puts a whole lot of pressure on the top link of a tractor.

I donno how well it will work on a 2point setup, that will be some rough pressure. Donno about that.

For hyd many are set up to run on a open or closed center tractor hydraulics, you might need to change a setting somewhere to make it work one way or the other.

Otherwise just plug it in, it likely will run pretty slow on an older tractor, but sure beats a shovel......
