tractor supply implement paint

I used to use the Tractor Supply paint to paint tractors and implements and loved their paint but they have changed brands and I wonder how good their new brand paints are.

As I understand, TSC paint used to be made by Valspar then they changed suppliers. The new stuff isn't that good. I've painted all sorts of tractors, impliments and truck frames and bodys with the old stuff and it worked and lasted very well. For the new stuff the jury is still out, but from what I've seen so far, I don't have much faith it.

When TSC sold valspar paint I had good results with it.
When they switched to Magic I had a lot of problems, the rattle cans would always plug up and the paint that I wood mix would seperate in the can overnite.
I called the paint company and they did send me a full refund for the paint.
I called TSC and they said sorry.
I don't buy their paint anymore. I went back to Orchelins and buy the VanSickle brand. Its one of the oldest paint companys in the USA

I painted my 1365 Oliver with it a few months ago. Can't tell you yet how it will hold up,but I had no complaints with using it. A gallon went a long ways. It was so thick that even after I stirred it up real good the stick would stand up in the can.

I think their new paint is lousy. Its is hard to apply smoothly, dries very slowly and with its first contact with sun light the gloss diminishes.

I have used Van Sickle Paint , have had good luck with it. I had some questions once and called their 800 number, I talked to a very nice man that talked me through the problem ( wrong hardner, my bad). There is way too much work in painting to use something questionable, and have to do it all over. joe

If it is anything like 'True Value' implement paint...Junk.The red will turn PINK in a year.Happened more than once....

Their old paint was Valspar. New stuff is not good and store manager said they get lots of complaints about it. Valspar implement paint can only be bought in this area at Carquest stores. I like the color very well. However, I have changed to IHC paint from Case/IH dealer. does a great job, gets really hard and shine very good.

While some like Valspar I've had great luck with Rustoleum. See their website for colors to match impliments or some "real" farm stores carry it.

Don't waste your money on the new stuff. Its no good as far as I'm concerned. I brought a gallon of black, started to paint a trailer with it, kept stiring it up more and more, it never got any better. Closed the can and took it back and got my money back.
I went and brought a gallon of Rustolum. The old Valspar paint was good stuff but there new paint is no good.

I use the cheap paint from Rural king, plus hardner, plus thinner runs around $50 per gallon. I add a little mineral spirits for a slicker finish.

Keep in mind, I use my tractors. They are not for show, but looks good enough for me. They are going go get dirty and scratched up. Can't see spending $100's for a clear coat.

You get what you pay for.Trying to get by on the cheap doesn't work for paint. There green will
eventually turn a bluish green color.
