vintage decals on equipment, how to protect them?

I have a bunch of equipment from the 30"s and 40"s that I put a tarp over and the decals on the pieces of equipment are still readable and would like to preserve them , I was thinking linseed oil would help but am not sure? in about 15-20 years when I have some time to work on the pieces I would like to be able to still see the decals.

thanks

I might consider getting a rattle can of Krylon clear coat. Just kind of clean the area up a little, and shoot it. Seems like it would work well, but I don't know! Bryce

I'm thinking that if they've lasted 70/80 years, whatever you're doing is working just fine.

I think I'd leave them alone.
