Tractor Supply is wrong name

They just opened a new Tractor Supply near me this weekend..
So grabbed up some old blades off my 5ft rotary cutter to match up when I go and put in the truck.
Walked in the door and first area was full of clothes, next area pet food.
Only found two short isles with tractor parts.
Was a total of maybe 6 different blades offered.
None matched what I needed.
O'well I know where to go when I need a shirt.

I was near one and stopped quick for a stock tank heater. I had about two to choose from and one was for a bucket. I will chop ice a few more days until I can get to orscheln.

I just bought one of their R.E. Schmitt flannel shirts last week and the FIRST time I put it on one of the buttons came off. One of my pet peeves is manufacturers anywhere who can't sew on buttons in the 21st. century. Same problem with Bass Pro shirts. Don't buy their's anymore either.

First time I visited America, I found a TSC....My eyes lit up and I had to visit to see all this great tractor stuff, but all I found was Trousers,Shirts and Clothes........Nuff said!

They just carried the co. name along as they diversified. Back in the 50's and 60's they had many tractor parts. Quite a few sleeves and piston sets were put in around here from Tractor Supply.

My experience is if it is farm related they don"t carry it or it"s out of stock. Unless it"s horse related. Should change their name to Horsey Supply Company.

I think it was last summer they opened one over in Greeley. They said right on their radio commercial, We Do Not Sell Tractor Parts.

I haven't shopped at a TSC store since they closed the stores in my area about ten years ago. TSC used to have an extensive catalog of tractor and implement parts. They may have an online catalog now.

Many retailers stock expensive, slower selling items at a central warehouse or sometimes at the manufacturer's warehouse. Even Walmart does this now, with 97 cents of free shipping to your local store. (I realize Walmart can't ship from their manufaturer's warehouses, because most would be in China).

I looked at one of those measuring wheels at TSC last week. The one with a handle and wheel you run on the ground to measure distance. It was 10 dollars higher than menards for the same exact model.

I refuse to in TSC. The only thing worse is white trashmart. TSC just has cheep china shirts and hardware all 10-15% higher than elsewhere. And their help has IQ's 4 points higher than a turd.

They aren't perfect but I have picked a few things like hydraulic hoses on a late Saturday afternoon when everything else was closed. Also they have pretty good twine at a better price than anywhere else in my area and can't beat their price on Red Brand fencing and stock panels. On the other hand don't want to buy any of their County Line equipment just like every other store some good some not so good stuff and prices.
And like Walmart if they give you heartburn just stay out of their store.

You can't say bad about Tractor Supply! They are the bomb! They usually have a good selection of Bush hog parts. They also have feed and fencing and all manner of stuff. I know each TSC is different. The one in Amherst, New York was stocking chicks most of the spring and summer.

I bought a pair of their boots. Didn't last six months. Before they fell apart. Even with a letter from the head office telling them. To replace them. They wouldn't do it. They opened one in the town over from mine. Sales are really slow at that store.Parking lot never has more than four cars in it.

Yup went there to get a starter switch like olivers and farmalls use, half the price of CaseIH, but after it branded the center of my palm from shorting out internally the first time I tried it, the CaseIH one is working just fine, a couple hundred starts later. JUNK chris

Hi
Don't even get me started on them. I had a flyer come about 5 months ago, with nice priced decent rated load chains in.
wanted 4 sets, they had none so rain checked them. still waiting for them. Had to go spend $200 for 2 chains at the local truck parts company. Then borrow 2 from a friend to move the tractor!.

Marks work wear is getting as bad as TSC ( next to useless), used to buy my steel toe capped cowboy boots in there.
went in there last time for a pair, about 3 small racks of work clothes/Boots, the rest is all leisure clothes. They now no longer carry these boots or anything to replace them I want.
I haven't got time to sit on the beach in fancy over priced shirts and short pants, but somebody must have they still open every day!
Regards Robert

I find items I need there.Grain, salt, livestock meds.Stores tend to stock items that sell best.I was able to buy steel fence posts at a reasonable price.Real T posts not the light garden types.I called around for an engine hoist a few years ago, couldnt find one.Called a TSC 40 miles away, they had them. Some posters like to make fun of the young help. How much did you know at the same age?Prices are not the lowest but when you need something to finish a job penny pinching is a waste of time.People must buy a lot of horse stuff because they stock plenty.A grocery store has a lot of stuff I never buy but I dont go ranting and raving about it.

TSC isn't that bad. Not all the tools are Chinese, or rather, they carry a lot of the same tools as Lowes, Sams, etc. My Dewalt chop saw came from TSC, so did the $10.00 jeans I'm wearing. I get my dog food cheaper there than elsewhere, especially considering how far I'd have to drive otherwise. Nuts, bolts, oil, fencing, pumps, batteries, salt, buckets, bar and chain oil, grinding discs, etc. I have a choice of driving 11 miles to TSC in the town I'm in for gas, etc. anyway, or 25 to Wallyworld or 45 to Sams, etc, or the big tractor dealers. I can also shop between TSC and NAPA in town and the one ancient, slow as death "we have to order it but the girl that does that is off/on lunch, come back later" Case dealer in town. So TSC fills a niche. They are also extremely supportive of our 4H club and FFA. As the kids working there get some experience they're becoming better at their jobs.

But as everyone says, they sell a lot of clothes. Yup. I can buy $10.00 Chinese jeans there or go to Wally World and pay 18.00 for equal quality or Sears/JCP/wherever and pay $35-100.00 for jeans made in China, India, Taiwan, Pakistan. Why? My jeans don't last 6-8 months if that long. Carharts last no longer and Dickies are the same. Where is the sense in spending 2-10 times the money for the same thing?

I had high hopes for the one that opened in the next town a few years ago, but my hopes were unfounded. I don't often find what I need, and the clerks who used to ask if I found what I came for don't seem to want to ask anymore.

Tractor supply is a joke. Opened one near me -45 miles away- went it ther walked from front to back and never have gone back.

Our town has both a TSC and a Rural King.

Rural King does have more of a varied selection, but still not much tractor stuff. For tractor stuff I go to the tractor dealers.

I think the difference is that walking into a grocery store you expect them to have groceries which they have plenty of plus other items.
When you walk into Tractor Supply because of the name you could reasonably expect a large variety of tractor related items plus other items.
The other items far outweighed the tractor related.
The majority of items in a grocery store are what the name implies.

It"s all about expectations. TSC is my go to store. I just don"t go there for tractor parts.
Hog panels are almost always a good deal
Best selection around for cheap tarps.
I like their clothes, no they aren"t gonna wear like iron, there will be a misfit or so,but you refused to pay for quality so it is all from a third world country.

The wife likes to go to Ponderosa Steakhouse once in a while. I freakin hated it, they did not serve any thing that I would call a steak. Once I quit thinking about the steak part and started thinking buffet, it was a decent deal!

Same thing with TSC think about the buffet

the ones around me are pretty good.
pretty good selection of tractor stuff, and animal meds.
and very handy, old tractor oil filters, non-resistor plugs, pails of oil-fluids,
and TRACTOR solenoids are usually on the shelf.
(just try to get the right tractor solenoid at an auto store)
And I couldn't survive with my 'make it myself' attitude
without their bolts by the pound. I buy a big bag on every visit.
Hardware stores are too expensive and how will I know what I need Before the next 'rig it' project.
The help is helpful, but of course they don't know what we know...research your part number before you go.

ps I do try to give my dealers and tractor parts places business too, but on the weekend after noon on Saturday, TSC is the only option sometimes

I thought we were all pro-business, pro-making-money here?

Tractor Supply has to go where the money is, like any good business. As the number of small farms decreased, Tractor Supply had to draw a different crowd, or go bankrupt.

We should be applauding Tractor Supply for turning their business around and becoming successful in a tough economy. Even if it's not a store YOU want to shop at!!!

I can *ALWAYS* find something I need there.

Selection is limited yes, but they have to stock what they think they can sell.

If the store is not for you, don't shop there. You'll live longer by not stressing about it.

There is 7 of the Tractor supply stores in my shopping area that I know of. 6 are located in town and bolts are the best part of them. The other is located out in the country and is a lot better on farm items, just out of the way for me. They are better on hardware items as well, just don't have much use for tractor parts anymore.

TS isn't my favorite outfit. As far as parts goes there's a handful of 'equipment' & agricultural outlets around if need be. But the service is most likely more personal & professional. TS seems to be geared to the general public shopper. With an older Tractor at times I figgure I'll still need to be prepared to order what I need. And so it occurs to me why not check for parts here time providing. It's how I found this place. Fingers crossed for no emergencies.

Hey if your an archer; TS gets their trailers shipped in on foam blocks. They are usually more then glad to get rid of them free. Take 9 of them stacked 3x3 and use a ratchet strap go around them and you have yourself a block target that will stop a broadhead.

Buddy works at one, when a new one opened they asked him to help set it up. When they open a new one a 'big-wig' says stock this or that, after open for awhile the stock usually starts changing to what that location needs. He found this out after a few 'conversations' (heated discussions) about why some things were being stocked. True?? or more BS from 'management' to the guy doing the work ?

Don't feel bad. Farm and Fleet is just as bad, if not worse. I often tell my wife that they should change it to "Horse and Clothing" as we walk out the door WITHOUT the item I sought. Hardly anything applies to working farms or and trucking fleet...

Now, Mill's Fleet Farm is another story. They got a whole lotta stuff. Both stores ship outta the same warehouses, but are operated completely different. Too bad my region (southwest Wisconsin) got the crap stores. I just go to Gasser True Value, anyway. They're getting worse, but are still better than F&F in Platteville.

Hit and miss for me. Way too much Chinese-made garbage, which I guess saying "Chinese-made garbage" is redundant in this day-and-age.

I did get two front tires there. Lots of bolts and they keep all the mufflers for old tractors in stock.

Their clothes are the biggest rip-off in the place. Their paint sucks too.

I can't imagine why you would call Tractor Supply 'Horse and Clothing'.

I went there the other day and got a great deal on tube socks and had to tap my hoof once for credit and twice for debit!

I was in TSC today.Bought 2 bags of layer pellets, a bracket for an smv sign and a quart of oil.I saw a lot of pto drive line parts, tractor seats, mufflers, all kinds of lubricants, plenty of tools, hardware,an engine stand and a hoist. They carry the 4x6 power hack saw.Drill presses, welders. At times they have a sheet metal brake and shear.Only place you can get blades for the 4x6 saw.Plenty of trailer building parts. They have cow mats, fencing.

Grocery stores sell booze, Kotex,Adult diapers, all kinds of questionable items that I dont need.Again I go to a store to buy what I need.I dont care if they sell things I dont use.
