My wife belongs to a group of women and they put on a hunters super every year on the opening day of deer season. They have 3 or 4 bushels of squash that they have to split. They have used a hammer and knife in the past years. Just wondering if anyone has a better way. These are a bunch of 65 to 80 year old women and they some times get carried away. I used my tractor in the growing of this squash. Thanks Ivan

Hydraulic shop press? I got one with a 30 ton hydraulic jack on it...

Seriously, could they have one of the guys hit 'em with a sawsall?

Please forgive the multiple replies - have been having trouble posting - when I submit, nothing shows up.

Would a clean hand saw work?

My dad worked at a meat packing plant and they used all sorts of saws in that process.

I have also baked squash whole... then cut it and gut it after cooking (much easier) - BUT probably something they would want to experiment with in advance, in case they don't like the way it turns out.

A meat cleaver and a wooden mallet work fine.I use a machete on reject pumpkins and squash I give to cattle.
