Fall m project part 2; redneck paint booth

All you need is some old dog pen fence and plastic drop cloth (still have to get that) , and some decent weather. I got the break seals in, carb rebuilt, some other odds and ends taken care of now it's prep time. I think the weather is gonna close in on me before I get it painted this fall but that's ok I can cover it till spring if I have to.

You gotta do what you gotta do! Sometimes the things we "make do" with work just as well as the high dollar stuff, and there is always that sense of accomplishment when you beat the odds.

Looks similar to some of my inventions also known as southern engineering (wonder what they call it up north (Yankee engineering) LOL) all in fun now folks so please don't anyone get upset, the things we do to get by with what we have. Like it.

Around here, dog pens cover the whole county or where ever the neighbors dog wants to run. Very few are ever in a pen. A lot of work areas I see around the county consists of the nearest shade tree.

Some of the "engineering" names I have heard over the years are now "not politically correct".

I'm no painting expert but from my experience, something else that you need is plenty of light.

(quoted from post at 05:32:53 11/11/13) Around here, dog pens cover the whole county or where ever the neighbors dog wants to run.

Hence the reason why he has surplus dog pen panels to build a redneck paint booth.

I went to painting school that was in a hotel in Orlando. They had an inflatable spray booth. I thought hey maybe this thing is affordable for a hobby guy . WRONG . The factory rep told me it cost thirteen grand. One morning it wouldn't inflate causing great stress in the class instructor. I have made one from plastic sheets that go in the shelving of a Best Buy store . Like corregated cardboard only 4x8 plastic. Wife still complained I was stinking out the house. Now I just go outside in September right after the insects are gone. You can get a pretty good finish outdoors in the right conditions and right ruducer.

and rafters so you can hang the parts from to paint.looks like a lot more preparation to do before even thinking of paint.

Agreed.

A guy I know would hose down the floor of his shop with water to keep the dust down while he painted. Seemed to work OK for him.

Yes a lot of scrapping, sanding, and washing to do but we'll get it there. It won't be like new but it will look a ell of a lot better
