Tires on log splitter

I'm working on a log splitter for a Lady and the tires are shot. They are dry rotted and fell off the rims. She said to put new tires on.
They're 4.80/8
TSC wants $30ea. for the tires.
The splitter never leaves the farm.
Would I be able to foam fill the old ones, and at what cost?
Would innertubes work with the old tires?
Where on line would I be able to order this size tire?
Thanks for any help.

That's a pretty common size light trailer tire. Yes, they will work with tubes, and they make tubes that size. Your local tire dealer should be able to get anything you want in that size.
Miller tire

If it's light duty, wheelbarrow tires are also available in that size.

PS - I have no afiliation with Miller, just find their website a very good information source. Apparently they stock a huge supply of odd ball tires that farmers and restorers need.
Miller tire wheelbarrow

also check out your local tow companies 480x8 used to be the size on the old school wrecker dollies, when i had wreckers we used to keep several around in case we blew a dolly tire, these old dollys are dinosaurs now, and if the company has been there for decades they may just give you any they have with todays modern roll back trucks dollys really arnt used anymore, and as mentioned a wheelbarrow tire will also work and is more than enough to hold up a splitter that doesnt go off the place

How many bolt holes in the wheels...those
temporary spares that most cars use now, have the
same bolt spaceing..my junkyard sells them for
$10 each, and they make excellent splitter tires.

If the tires are rotted and split, tubes are a waste of time.

Foam filling will cost more than replacing the tires.

Tractor Supply has cheap wheelbarrow tires that size for $19 each with tubes. If you just need to roll it around those will work fine.

Any old tire will work as long as it stays on the farm. However if you put non high speed tires on it and hit the highway they will blow.
