OT:TV speakers blown out?

Our TV, about 5 yr old Magnavox flat screen. This week we noticed we are watching with volume nearly all the way up (It has the gauge on the screen with the volume number). We watched a movie last week that had some loud parts. My question is, did we blow out our speakers? does this still happen? sounds like a 1970's thing but its definitely quieter.

If you have your tv on one channel, note the volume, and try another channel, and another...etc.. I have noticed some channels are quieter than others, and some the movie is quiet and the commercials are louder. If you go from one channel that is quiet to another channel that isnt, it is the previous channel, if that makes sense.

Do you have a volume control on your cable or dish remote control too ? I've left one way down before , causing that problem .

Spend a few bucks and get a good surround system an set back and enjoy the great sound. My Panasonic system has 7 channels and 700 watts of power you don't need that much there are some good units that are much cheaper and have good sound. Just go to your local TV OUTLET and ask.

So, if the sound portion of my tv is failing, I should remedy that by buying a sound bar/system?

Add-on computer speakers could also be used with a TV with a speaker jack or a headphone jack. Systems with a subwoofer start at $30 and up.
