95 dodge 5 speed loked up // needa tranny

Well its official ,tranny is loked up ,334 thousand miles on 95 dodge cummins with 5 speed manual , started noticing occasional whine and glitch in tranny thru late summer ...now it wont move but a foot one way and a couple feet in reverse.. .does anyone have a good tranny ,,,or no what is wron with mine , or know of best method of finding a rebuilt replacement 5 speed ?
 
Hard to tell what's wrong with it until you tear into it. If it is locked up, that means there is a lot of wear. May be able to replace bearings and synchronizers, but with that many miles, who knows. If you start replacing gears, it can get XPENSIVE!
May try locating one at a parts yard, if they don't have one they should be able to locate one and have it shipped in. If you could locate one this way in good shape, (they should be willing to tell you how many miles is on it),this would probably be the way to go.
 
found a rebuilder in franklin ky for $1550 exchange ...I have little confidence in putting parts in this one .although it worked fine until the last 100 miles .true , it may be sumthin small ,,l but I usually am not that lucky ..
 
well, that makes two of us... mine went yesterday. I just ordered a rebuilt one for my truck, $1700 delivered as long as my core is ok - case not cracked.
 
There"s a Guy on Craig"s list With adds for Dodge Truck"s Cummins Powered[Ny /Mass ]Area Has Photo"s of 10 Plus + Motors & Trans /Says That This is All He Works on 89 -all most new Trucks & Parts .You might try looking there ! Hope it will be of some help.
 
The ones I have blown up like that usually take the counter gear or cluster gear and the input shaft bearings seals new shafts would be about 600. From Allstate gear
 
I'd get on a site like junkyarddog and find an NV5600 from a later Cummins, or a ZF-6 from behind a 6.slow, Frod V10, or dirtymax. Parts to swap in the ZF-6 can be had from fordcummins.com.
