Case 600 Bleeding fuel system

Fired up the trusty old Case 600 this morning to clean up the drifts in the bale yard.
Fired right up
Left it to warm up a while
5 minutes later went to get wood for the shop stove, tractor still running fine
10 minutes later tractor not running
Try to restart, no go
Walk around side of machine to see a big puddle of diesel in the snow
The plastic plug at the bottom of the water trap was no where to be found
Fashioned a plug and put fuel in tank, bled all the filters and the day tank, still won't start.
In all the years I have owned this machine I have never run it out of fuel, now with the wind and snow blowing sideways I am trying to figure out how to properly bleed the air out of the system.
Engine is still warm and the cranking speed is good.
Any one out there that remembers, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Not positive on your Case but my Allis(Perkins) has to be bled at each step of the fuel system. Filters, then lift pump, then at the injection pump, then each injector line. Air compresses, fuel does not so you have to get rid of all the air in some diesels.
Good luck and stay warm!

is this a big 600? bleed the primary with gravity, then open bleeder on secondary and crank engine until you get fuel, fill final with dsl. (I have used a pop can with a nail hole poked into it) and it ought to start

Thanks to all that chimed in.
What I finally did was to remove the check valve at the front of the injector pump and using a squeeze bottle primed the head of the pump.
Fired up instantly.
Below the lift pump there is a tee with a shut off valve in it.
Can anybody explain what it is for? The way it is plumbed it looks like a bypass, maybe for bleeding?
