Then this happens, major break down. Had to pull all this out and replace all of it. Took a couple of days but we got it back together and rolling. Now the rains have come.

Those IH rotaries do a really nice job in corn. Now ya better check everything that makes the cleaning shoe go back and forth including the pitman arm bearings and rubber isolators, making sure it's centered when the isolators are tightened up. A tiny bit of wear can make things break back there. Good luck with the rest of the harvest. Jim

I feel for you buddy. I had a major breakdown too.
Happened over a weekend so I was down for 4 days.
Keep the spirits up. You will get done.

I started a couple weeks early on some weather damaged corn. Good thing, because without warning my 1660 Case/Cummins 8.3 engine flew apart. Turns out it was a "reman". Apparently an economy "reman". I lost a couple weeks, but was lucky to find an engine close by. I would be done, but ran into another unexpected problem. Much to my surprise some of the corn was good enough to more than make up for the bad, and my bins and wagons are full! Will get some moved out soon and get done.

are you guys getting propane? they told us we might get some again the first of next week, we haven't been doing corn for a few days because of the weather, ran the combine into the shop to do a few needed repairs, hoping to get the drying bin emptied and then start taking corn out again this weekend and hopefully gas shows up so we can dry it, the driest I had was 16.4 up to 20 or a little more

Thats what started all this. The bushings went out of one of the arms and started a chain reaction it looks like to me. Had to replace all the bushings, a bearing and one of the pitman arms. Its working like a charm now.

Doug,
We don't even have a dryer any more. Normally we let it dry down in the field and start picking at about 17 or so. Its a bit wetter than that this year, but most of it is 18% or drier. We did have some at 19, but its all picked and gone to town. We will put it in the bin at 17 put some air to it, and really have never had any problems.
