Nash Metropolitan

I want to thank all that helped on this engine, I should have said it was a 1500. When my wife got her first job she bought a new 67 Buick convertable. She worked in Grand Rapids at that time and many days she would get out of work and instead of her new car setting there a Metropolitan would be there, Her Dad traded cars with her to go golfing. We did take the Metro on a few date, I could have bought it for $50

I had several of them when I was in High School. Never paid more then $50 for one. One of the few cars that a I could change a flat tire by picking it off the ground - by hand. As I recall, the steering was prone to falling apart. Of course, back then - I never checked or serviced anything until it stopped working - or fell off. We used to call them "Clark Kent" mobiles. Not sure why. I assume there must of been a Superman TV episode (with George Reeves) where a Metro was driven by Clark or Lois.

Nash was a sponsor of Superman- Clark drove a Nash Healey, Lois a Rambler American convertible. Don't recall either of them in a Metropolitan.

We had a school teacher that had one. Every so often we would put it on blocks. He would come out to go home, start it up and it would just reve up and not go anywhere. Cute little car.

Lois didn't have an American convertible, it was just a plain old Rambler. IIRC the Rambler went out of production for a year or two and then AMC re-tooled it and made it the American the same but different and no convertible version until they re-tolled the American in '61 and it became the square box like they used in Third rock from the sun.
