Mustang 920 skidsteer what other brand buckets work? I"m looking at getting a small skidsteer. What are the good and bad points of Mustang?

I think Bobcat buckets fit some other brands.
I know a Bobcat bucket bucket fits my sons 1845C Case skitsteer.

If it's from the mid 90's I'd avoid it! In general Mustang are good skid steers but the small ones from that era were WAY under powered. I rented one to do a job in very tight quarters and down a 4' retaining wall. One thing I don't like about Mustangs is that the hydraulic tank is in the belly of the machine. It didn't have enough power to back up the ramps to get out of the hole! It ended up tipping forward on the bucket when I tried to take a little(12") run to get up the ramps. Now I had a scary situation. The bucket was raised about 1/2 way so it wouldn't drag on the ground when I started up the ramps. I couldn't lower the boom to put the machine back on all fours because it was starved for oil. I had no other choice but to crawl out of the machine when it was tipped forward. I had to use all my chains a couple boomers hooked to a tree to right it. Mustang used to have their own style single pin quick attach that nothing else fit. I would also suggest going up a size to a 1000 or preferably a 1300 lb. rated capacity skid steer. Much more stable and will do a ton more work.

I have a 1996 Mustang 960. Excellent machine, very dependable. I bought mine when it was 3 years old and the hour meter said 3200 some odd hours and hasnt worked the whole time i've had it. I use mine every day to feed and move hay, clean the cow yard, move snow, loading fire wood, ect. I have done nothing to mine except change oil and fuel filters. The 960 is a little bigger machine but never ran out of power with it. The ONLY complaint i have is that Mustang attachments do not inner change with other brands from those years. I think they have since changed that design. Would like to upgrade to something newer but scared of the problems i might get when this has been such a good machine.

I have a 1996 940

Things I like:
* Very simple machine, easy to work on, my friend has a bobcat and everything is so hard to get to
* parts are avail and inexpensive (goldeneagledirect.com)
* I like the t-stick and hate it all at the same time, it is nice to only use one hand but it is a pain to climb over it when getting in or out.
* I like the single pin, but hate it again, I like it better than bobcats system. i think it is simpler and easier to attach, but it does not draw the bucket tight which give you some slop. I also have an adapter plate to bobcat (they are like 700 new)

Things that I don"t like:
* Up until they used the one pin attachment - which is a mustang only thing
* dont know if my machine is "loose" or what but when pushing hard into a pile of dirt it wants to "jump" the bucket grabs which you move backward slightly which makes you move the stick and the entire process repeats, I find when doing this to brace myself to the cab when pushing and it eliminates it. I also plan to replace the t-stick damper which should help with this
* You have to remove the cage to work on it, it does not tilt back like the newer bobcats
* The fuel tank is behind the seat. Need to lean over the hot engine to put fuel in...
* The did not put a flapper or turn the exhaust so the mufflers are all rusted out (just stupid)

I have some issues with mine, mostly from VERY poor maintenance (letting it overheat and run low on oil) but I do not think this is a problem with the machine - just mine...

They are MUCH less than the same bobcat and I feel easier to work on
