O/T....I just found out I became a teacher!

Went to the mail box and had a BIG envelope with my name on it. I thought to myself this can't be good. Opened it up and found that I passed my Michigan Hunter Safety Instructor test that I had taken about 2 mo ago. Never in a million years did I think they would let me teach [ They must have not looked at my school grades]. HAPPY to get it and be able to pass the knowledge on the the youngsters for the great outdoors. Now to find a instructor class for teaching JOAD archery! Trucker

While sitting in with my 8yr old for the weekend it really surprised me on the amount of adults there and the number of daddy daughter combos there. They approached me as I am a member of the club and they are losing some instructors to out of state. So I said I'll try the test and see what happens. I always enjoy teaching to those who want to learn.

I really resent you making the "anti-gun abundant" comment. Yes, I am more "abundant" than some, but I have no problem with firearm ownership and proper / safe usage. So, please rethink your comments before posting. It is the tone of such comments as this that have begun to take the fun out of this website.

We didn't have Hunter safety when I grew up (1950s & 60s) but Dad enrolled me in a 4-H gun safety class. We all sat around a kitchen table and passed a gun back and forth checking to make sure it wasn't loaded even if the kid next to you had just checked it. It's the first thing I do when I pick up a gun, even my own. You have an important job. Good luck and thank you for stepping forward.

As a teacher you never know the impact of what you say or do. I'm in my mid fifties and took the hunter safety course as soon as I was old enough and still remember very clearly the instructor saying about handling guns "Treat all guns as if they are loaded a 22 will kill you just as dead as a 30-06" ...sound advice! I wish you success and thank you for stepping up for the youngsters.

Congratulations!! I'm a firm believer it teaching a child how to properly handle a firearm. Had a good friend that lost an eye to a " unloaded rifle" when I was a teenager. Thanks for takin the time to teach these kids

snoopnc, the poster said anti gun liberals. You say you're not anti gun, then rip him for offending you.

How paranoid are you about your liberalism that you're stabbing at shadows?

They never had Hunter Safety when I was growing up, I remember tagging along when my dad went pheasant hunting in the cornfield with a single shot 12guage behind our house in Plymouth, MI. My grandson went a year ago last summer and I attended with him. The course was very interesting and informative. So now I have the certificate after all these years of hunting!

I apologize then if you are not anti gun for safe and sane use.But I have to say i very seldom come across conservatives who are anti gun
