hi all i have a big problem we had afire in june involving one that faced into a building (we know door was left open !!!! anyhow insurance paid for it all then the week they bring the furnace we get a nasty gram from insurance co saying that if it goes back in the way it was our insurance is cancelled do i hire an attorney ???and fight this ???? or look for other insurance (been doing this very $$$$$$$$$$$) what insurance co do you deal with ???? W/ outdoor furnaces????

Back in the way it was? If it started a fire the way it was don't you think you should consult an expert on outdoor furnaces rather then blame your insurance co.

You left the door open, and they settled with you??? If I was you I wouldn't be complaining. they probably figure you will leave it open again!!!!
Loren, the Acg.

Why would you mess with an attorney? Install it the way the manufactor says to and find another insurance. And move it away from the building. Just saying that's what I would do

My insurance company requires the outdoor boiler to be at least 50ft from any insured building.

Do EXACTLY what your insurance company says, or you won"t have insurance. Most require the firebox to be a minimum of 50" from the house and installed precisely to the manufacturer"s specs.

As an insurance inspector, you wouldn"t believe the stuff I"ve seen people cobble together for outdoor furnaces and try to sneak past their insurance companies.

I was once sent to re-inspect one where the insurance company sent the home owner a letter stating his insurance would be cancelled in 60 days for his present setup. The present unit was four feet from the side of the house. Two weeks before his 60 days were up, he contacted his insurance company and stated he had installed a completely new state of the art unit, and installed it according to manufacturers specs. His insurance compaly didn"t believe him and sent me to take a look.

I kid you not, all the guy had done was take a paint brush and put a coat of paint on the old unit without changing a thing.

Believe me, insurance companies have seen it all, and will cancel at the drop of a hat if they don"t like the looks of something. And from what I"ve seen, I don"t blame them.

You don t have to do what they say---- you just do not have insurance, a lawyer can t help, just take your money.

Saw one melt the vinyl siding off the house, hasn"t actually burned the place down yet. Still there. Don"t know, the guy may not have insurance.

Husky, From reading your post I take it that you sold the boiler, while most responders assume that you are the owner.
