Took advantage of the nice day and went on a road trip thru Calhoun Co, IL to see the fall colors. Here are some pictures of barns we saw on the trip.

Glad to know I am not the only one that stops along the road to take pictures of barns. Can not say I have heard of barn quilts though.

And here I always thought barn quilts were a unique thing to Iowa. Everyone has them here. I lived in Illinois for nearly 40 years and never seen a barn quilt until moving to Iowa.

It has been quite a few yr's since I left Illinois, but I was back there in Pike Co in Aug, for a funeral. I turned onto Rt 100 at Detroit, and headed south to Alton on my way back to the St Louis airport. I used to live north of Pearl and wanted to see the old place, and went south thru Hardin, after leaving Pearl. Are Those pictures along Rt 100, or did you go south of Hardin, toward Golden Eagle?

Very nice barn pictures. Barns are losing the battle with time. I have lost 2 in my lifetime to storms. Here in McLean county, Illinois the barn quilts are popping up and this spring we had a barn quilt tour.

Well back her in PA. we don't have Barn Quilts
hang'n on a barn in My area at least... Some
of those are like painting a Pig, quilt looks
nice but it's hang'n on a Pig.....

I came through St. Charles and accross the Mississippi on the Golden Eagle and rambled around and came back thru Hardin. Some of those pictures were off of 100.

Yeah ! it sure does. My uncle used to do a lot of coustom bailing , with a Oliver 88 diesel, and a JD bailer. Us boys worked on Clayton Evans, Hay crew, and followed uncle Pete around, putting it away. We got familiar with a lot of farms, and people in Calhoun, and Pike counties, even done a little across the river, in Green Co. Know where Bee Creek is!
