Ford 661 Cuts Out

I recently rebuilt my carburetor and I'm still having a problem with my 661. The tractor starts fine and seems to be idling ok but when I take it out on my property it seems to cut out on any slight uphill grade. I just readjusted the float since it was sitting up too high. I have checked the fuel line to make sure it was not touching the manifold and checked to see that the gas cap was venting ok. Both of those checked out ok. At this point I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions as to what I might check next?

Very common to have a spark problem cause a problem like you have. The first thing to always check is that you have a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more. Next you need the check fuel flow at the carb drain and make sure you have a good steady flow for a few minutes catching it to look doe water and dirt etc. Also does choking it hurt or help??

When you readjusteed the float, did you make sure it wasn"t touching up against the sides of the float chamber? My red tractor will do that, I have to get a Dremel and smooth the chamber sides.

have you checked for crud blocking the screen inside the tank? This will often result in a temporary restriction, that floats away after shutting off. I have had good success cleaning out with a siphon.

Try adjusting the choke when it starts to cut out- if it smoothes out when you choke it at a certain point, you're short of fuel. Probably at the tank outlet into the sediment bulb. Remove sediment bulb and make sure you've got a steady flow- even a fast drip isn't enough.
