Putting the Ca CL back in the tire

I intend to use an old Chevy fuel pump to put the fluid back in with. Should I tip the barrel and put the pump on the very bottom of the barrel, or should I keep it above the bottom about an inch To leave any crud in the barrel? What is the white powdery stuff?
Thank you
Steve

White powdery stuff is CaCl that is not fully dissolved, I think. I did mine by gravity, I put the fluid in a bucket upstairs with a small hose running down into the valve stem. It was slow but it worked.

I think it will ruin that pump as soon as the fluid hits it. I would go with the gravity system.

The pump was removed from a Lumina because it was stuck, and therefore not dependable. I will give it a try and hope for the best, but also be prepared to use the gravity method if it dies a sudden death.
Thank you
SDE.

When filling tires with liquid the problem comes when the air pressure in the tire stops the fluid from entering. Get yourself a filling tool that lets the air out as the fluid goes in. I have used the Quick fill from gemplers with gravity flow from a barrel in the back of a pickup truck. Filled a MF 35 rear tire in about 20 minutes.

I use a drill pump to pump wiper fluid in my tires. I have not used the CACL in years and since I can get wiper fluid pretty cheap see no reason to use it.
As for that pump it would be best to keep it say 3-6 inches above the bottom but being what it is not likely to last long for that. If you do not have it get one of the special hook up for filling tires with fluid so you can let off the air pressure or you will be in for a battle to say the least

If I ever have to do any work on my tractor tires, they're getting wiper fluid.
