Many years ago I messed up my little finger on my left hand. Well yesterday it started hurting as bad as when I mess it up back when I was 20 or so. Only way to get any relief is to tape it to the other finger next to it. Funny how things that we did years ago can come back and haunt us years latter

I'm going through the same thing. Back, neck, hands and feet loaded with arthritis from my younger years activities. However, if I had it to do all over again I'd still ride motor cycles both on and off road, ride ATVs, snowmobiles and do dumb things. Only thing I'm doing different now really is to watch my weight and diet due to high blood sugar and blood pressure. Both seem to be somewhat under control now. Still work on my own vehicles, just some times need to find different ways to do tasks. Told my doctor I'll consider slowing down the day they bury me.

Woman ran a stop sign 15 years ago and hit me, I was walking, broke my right shoulder. I was putting up hay at the time and never had it taken care of. Seemed to heal ok, but today doing different things it bothers me lots.

Between high school basketball, several horse wrecks and over 20 years of shoeing horses back in the 70's - 90's I have quite a few of those "phantom" pains. Latest is a puffed up knee aggravated by trout fishing. I hate when that happens.

Sorry, scumbag/dopehead/trash,crossed centerline and hit me head on in 1997.
Near death for me,he walked away,I hurt and ache every day,but am glad to be here.
He was carrying $25,000.00 insurance which went towards my $300,000.00 ++ bill, and so I "got rich" on the deal.Never knew I "got rich" till people started telling me my neighbor was spreading that around.

"old", yur just getting old before yur time!!!!lol lol lol

So yur handle is starting ta match..hhhhhhhhhmmmm I wonder????

Back in the 70's I work as a sand molder in a cast iron foundry. Molds were 200 + pounds. We were paid by the piece. Consistently made 12 -16 hours worth of molds in 8 hours each day. 40 years later my back reminds me about that.

Sooner or later you pay for it don't'cha. I bent my right thumb back when I was tobogganing probably when I was a freshman in high school. Turned big and purple like they do but it healed up OK. Thirty years later that thumb got to hurtin when I used a pen to write. Didn't figure out it was because of that injury years before. Now I'ts about fifty years since the accident and the thumb hasn't become progressively sore but it still won't let me write when holding the pen the proper way. Jim

Oh don't say that. I had a chunk of bone removed from my ankle about 6 months ago. Hurt like %$#@ before that.

So when I'm in my late 60's I get to look forward to living through this again?

Shouldn't have been so wild while you were living here in Charleston. I knew it was going to catch up with you someday.

Damaged my back at 16 years old, now when it's cold and damp like it is this time of year it bothers a lot. Also for no reason I can figure out most chevrolet seats will have me in tears in about a 1/2 hour of driving. Don't know why and I can ride in fords for ever and most dodges are ok too. Also poked my left thumb with a hot welder wire from a mig gun when I was a welder. It got infected and swelled so big it slit wide open all along the side within 1 day. It got so bad I spent 6 days in the hospital and 2 more weeks at home giving myself IV antibiotics. If you toss something at me even today that I can't catch with my right hand it's just going to land on the ground. lol

Big Tuh. Betall the pain came from cuting sand, running a jolt squeezer,Shifing weights, baking cores etc/. BTDT I still see patern boards, and parting dust in my sleep. LOU

I broke my ankle in 88' and once or twice a month it will act up,it feels like i sprained it but usually lasts for an hour or so.

Got some stainless steel wire holdin the bottom two vertebrae together in my spine and small piece of my kneecap floating around in my left knee, finger on my right hand with no feeling whatsoever. All of this from injuries over 25 years ago. That's why when I get up in the mornings I put my feet on the floor and make sure everything still works before I try and stand up. Hey what can a say getting old ain't for wimps

Mkirsh, I had a chunk of bone
removed from the ankle 20
years ago. It bothered me for all
of ten years afterward but it
doesn"t bother now and I"m 62.

I was having a lot of back pain, X rays and an MRI latter, Doc asked me how much football did I play in school. The answer was none but we did build a nice ski ramp in grade school! He did tell me that a lot of back problems from high school show up about the time you turn 40. Surgery went well, that was 12 years ago.

I am not doing bad, considering I spent the last two winters laid up from major surgery caused by injuries 30 years ago.

Yup at docs the other day measured strength in hand ones 130 the other 80 doc was wondering why ? well lets see hay hook in thumb 3 pt in center motorcycle wreck and confliicts of interest with critters results surgery next month 2 to 6 months off .doc told me my driver could take me home after surgery told her didnt need one told me what to do off to a good start

I recently dropped a board on my finger. Do you use duct, electrical, or painters tape? I like painters tape.

How many people messed up their body playing high school sports, glory days injury?

Interesting, I never heard of using stainless steel wire holding the bottom two vertebrae together. Dr wanted to fuse my L4 & L5 10 years ago. I just deal with it and live with the pain.

Where did you have your operation?

In the morning I head to the bathroom to make sure everything still works.

a life taking care of big animals, sports, fixing stuff,
and just being a 'normal in those days' person...
lots of injuries and broken bones.
and growing up in a family where we didn't
go to the doctor, for 'every little thing'.
well, now I'm old, and everything hurts,
and I don't like pain medicine because it makes me dumb,
and dumb will get me dead working on big machines.

I try to see the positive.
once I get moving in the morning, as long as I keep working, I'm good.
sit down, or be motionless in front of the TV,
forget it, everything starts to ache.
So, I get twice as much work done now, then when I was younger!

OH YES.I'm only 49 but I can already tell whats coming.I've never been in a cast but had nasty sprains on both ankles and took a bad fall onto a concrete floor.(Jumped backward over a 4' partition to get away from a very angry sow.)I had a small mishap on the road that messed up my left shoulder and neck a few years later. After the economy went down I nnalert layer pullets for 2 years and my elbows have hurt since.

Like a total fool I thought I can still do anything and have been working the kill line at a poultry plant the last year and a half.I spend a third of my shift on the truck moving crates with ten broilers per crate onto the conveyor and the rest at the line hanging a bird every three seconds.By friday I know every abuse my body has taken over the years.

Darn right. Got 2 pins in my ankle fron RVN and 2 compresseions in my back from being Army airborne for 23 years. This time of year when the weather cools...I hurt bad.

I drove a rural mail route for over 20 years. Driving from the wrong side of the seat, and also reaching back over the seat and lifting bundles of mail across into the front seat from the back have taken a toll on my neck and left shoulder. I usually spend several weeks in the chiropractor's office every year just to get it somewhat straightened out for a while.

Also, whenever I see these young kids who think high school sports is the only thing in the world that matters, I can't help but wonder what song they'll be singing when they get to be our age! Some of them have bad knees and shoulders already!!

ya jon from mn I noticed dem chevy seats are hellish on my back in about 5 min also.at first I thought it was just me and maybe I was just a big whimp but it"s good to know i"m not just imagining things.boy what a small world eh?chevys suck!!
