O/T A Beautiful Setting with Sad Message

This past Sunday evening I was using my one bottom ripper on my IH 574 tractor on my one field of 5.5 acres. I was heading Westward toward the setting sun. As I was going up the hill I saw my wife walking over to me and our black lab was only steps behind her. Looked beautiful with the setting sun in the back ground.

When her and I got close to each other I stopped and shut the engine off. She had a sad message to tell me. Our 18yr old son has been in trade school for the last 8 weeks. He called and told her that one of his HS class mates and trade school classmate (in the same class room) was found non-responsive in a friend's dorm Sunday morning. They were unable to revive him.

This evening we went to the funeral home. Many, Many of his classmates were there. As we got our chance to give his parents our condolences his father told me, "Good Luck With Your Son at School". I teared up. Their son had told his mom and dad how well our son was doing in their electrical class they were studying.

This has been a very sad day for our town. He was a very popular student in school and an awesome baseball pitcher and player.

Thoughts and prayers going out to his family.

John..
I heard that story on the news up here in Chicagoland. I did not know the young mans name, but when the reporter said he was from Highland that sure got my attention. I am sorry for the loss for the young mans family, your family and the town.
I wish everyone piece.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

At 44 years old, I have had to attend funerals for a few friends that have lost their children. Not sure there is much that is more heart-wrenching than seeing a parent suffering like that.

One of the things that go with getting old to hear storys like this one but its a reminder to spend every minute like it could be the last and to to not take for granted the time spent with a loved one good luck and prayers

Not trying to be mean but you are born and you die. In this case it would be totally unexpected. That makes it very hard on the family. But there is a cause. I noticed that the cause of death was completely absent. So I expect one of several reasons. 1. drug or booze overdose. 2. suicide. 3. undetected medical problem. I am sorry for the family but if you don't think this can happen to your kids you are sadly mistaken. Please, look for the warning signs that you can do something about!

We had a suicide in the family, daughters BIL (college student at the time), about 10 years ago, His father, good guy, highly trained EMT, only saw the warning signs after the fact. He will carry that guilt for the rest of his life. Drug and booze overdoses we can't predict but dangerous behavior and the warning signs of suicide can very often be detected. Please don't believe that it can't happen in your family.
