Old Time Picture

Dad (right) emailed me a picture of his family from probably the 1940's.

All were farmers, or involved with farming, and have since passed away except for Dad who will turn 92 in January and became an Industrial Arts teacher after serving in World War II and Korea.

PS: Mom's side were dairy farmers and ran Oliver tractors - Wonder where I get my fondness for Yesterday's Tractors?

Side note:

1) Our daughter's John Deere A came from uncle Clarence (left) and his son-in-law's collection.

2) In about 1973, helped Dad and uncles dismantle uncle Raymond's (left center) corn crib which Dad used for a garage and family room addition.

3) Worked for uncle Elmer's (right center) son and son-in-law farming during the early 70's.

4) First tractor I drove was a Hart Parr Oliver 70 on Dad's lap.

5) Aunt Florence (center) and Grandpa kruser (lower left) passed away before I was born in mid 50's.

My cousin all on grampa's old Ford. It had a. Racked block and sat there for as long as I remember. That's me on the upper right with the airman cap my brother holding the radiator cap and baby sister on the right with the only straight hair in the family.
Taken around 1943/4

Neat to have any pictures of your ancestors. Three of my grandparents died before I was born, last grandma when I was but a toddler... Have photo of great grandma, and grandpa - Civil War era. Picture of grandmother and grandfather on other side, in the late 30's, early 40's. That's all. Sure would like to be able to see what those before looked like.

I have a box of family photos, but can only identify a few people in them. I begged Dad to write who they were on the back, but he never did. After he died my brother and I threw away about 2/3 of them because we had no idea who they were--a real shame!

rabbit:

Check with family. If your parents had any brothers or sisters, they or their children may have family photos that you don't know about. Ask them for copies.
