My 97 f350 with 7.3 diesel keeps having the cam sensor go out only when I leave it idle in my driveway and now its the 3rd time last time got one from ford. Any ideas what I need to look for otherwise runs great when going.

if im not mistaken there is a TSB out on that. The kit should have a washer that gets placed between the sensor and block so the cam doesnt hit the sensor.

ive read that over time the cam can start to walk back and forth. ( only a few thousandths ) and the washer helps the issue. Id stop by your local ford dealership and ask.

I had to bring my 1994 F250 to a Ford dealer this summer in northern Michigan for a factory-recall (brake switch fire hazard). While there he asked me how many crank (or cam) sensors had failed in my truck since I've got 260,000 miles on it. I told him that my 7.3 diesel does not have one and he got kind of angry and insisted my truck does. I've got the factory manuals and there is no mention of a crank sensor in my 1994 turbo 7.3 IDI. So, am I nuts or was the dealer?

Makes we wonder how many people this dealer has sold that part and repair to that didn't even have it ?????
