Pricing a Manure spreader

Does anyone have any idea what would be a fair price for a well kept New Idea 327 manure spreader? (130 bu.)

Near new apron chain, sides and frame are good, single beater.

Thanx.

I paid $3995 for a brand new New Holland 145 about 5 years ago. It had been sitting on the dealers lot for so long the paint was beginning to fade. That size isn't big enough for the cattle farmers and it's too big for the horsey set so I got a good price on it.

I'm a "horsey" person and I prefer the bigger the better!!! LoL Wouldn't mind getting a tandem axle just for when helping the beef boys out. Without seeing it is the hard thing to say, I've been shopping for quite a while and used prices don't seem to be going down any.

I'm an idiot! I've been texting and e-mailing this afternoon to sell a New Idea 324 corn picker and just transferred that over to the spreader.

It is a New Holland!

That looks exactly like the one Dad bought new around
1965. We were not impressed. The steel sides, despite
care to keep them scraped off, simply rotted away. We put
new (warrantied) ones on & they were no better.

Also, the ratchet apron/beater control liked to slip out of
clean out position & suddenly engage the beaters. One
such time proved too much for the cast iron gear box and
smashed it into pieces.

It was a handy spreader, nicely sized for our 28 cow dairy
herd, but simply not rugged enough, (and we take pretty
good care of our stuff).

If I had it in my yard I would be asking $1000. for it but I would also be willing to listen To reasonable offers. Not a good spreader for a serious farmer but good for the hobby guys.

I have a 329 which I think is the next model newer of about the same size. I think I gave $700.00 for mine about 10 years back, might have been $800.00. Overall I'm not that impressed with NH manure spreaders. The biggest thing is the U shaped cross beam for the axle. It's a cheap, underbuilt hunk of sheet metal. I had to reenforce mine with a 5" pipe and rebuild the stub axle boxes out of heavier gauge plate. I also replaced the floor and put in a new T style apron chain. It spreads okay, but I'd really prefer a model with some shredders before the wide spread, like on my old IHC or NI. I know that's old school these days, but it works a lot better for breaking up manure and bedding.

Anyways, somewhere around a grand seems about right to me, but I'm usually low these days, so add 3-400.

See them priced at $1,000 around here, but relisted quite a few times. I'd say $750 or so and it would move pretty quick. I've bought them as cheap as $200 and usually get $700 or so out of them.

A decent working PTO spreader will bring $1000 here. Perfect for a small horse farm. Can unload in a pile or on a drive thru the field.

We had a nh 327 at the horse farm, was a good fit for 26
stalls, but the ratchet drive was a problem, I now have a NH
518 that has a gear driven apron chain, a better system, I'd
say a $ 1000 tops, maybe.

Like said before these were great for the hobby guys. They do spread nice and the NHs built before 4/1/93 still qualify for the sides warranty if they are cared for and still rust out.

Should be easily worth 1000 if in solid good condition.

The spreader in your picture has the same design features as my NH145 that I mentioned above. They have sturdy apron chains and I've had excellent service from mine. I would recommend it to anyone needing that size spreader.

My H&S 125 (125 bu.) is going new for almost $6,000. It was just over $4,000 back in 2002 (new price). Just had the dealer put in a new rear apron drive shaft and gear (the bearing seized) and a whole new apron chain. No brainer to spend that when the cost of them has gone up so much. Can't afford to have it down. It's the perfect size for us, empty it twice a week in winter, once a week in summer.
