How much will it cost to get the crank for a D282 turned worse
case scenario and how much will it cost for a valve job for a
D282?

you wont have much left out of a thousand dollar bill.
i had a head rebuilt and it took care of 500.00. and thats a non cracked head.
the crank will eat the rest by the time you get brgs. and turn it.

If that D282 is out of an early 560 the crankshaft may not be regrindable due to the hardening process used on it.

There are about five different crankshafts used in those gas and diesel engines that are all dimensionally the same. To start with the gas and diesel crankshafts were not interchangeable. The difference had to due with the hardening process. "Tuft-Rited" shafts cannot be reground. "Elotherm" hardened shafts can be reground but not straightened. Later service crankshafts can be used in either gas or diesel engines.

Unfortunately the information on the different crankshafts is contained in a service bulletin and I do not have access to them. Hopefully either someone else here can come up with the crankshaft numbers or you can get the information from a dealer who has the old service bulletins.
