Hanging weight price

Haven't sold pork in a while - what is current hanging weight price? I'm in KS. I'm not building in lots of overhead as I grind my own grain. I usually do them as gifts but have some "strangers" buying.

Is $1.15/lb about right?

Knew it was 220% for beef, didn't know what it was for hogs. That should give a definitive answer to the original question.

A 250 lb pig is going to hang about 180 lbs and butcher out about 120 lbs of prime commercial cuts.
So base on .72 per lb live 1.00 per lb hanging is about right.

But on the other hand you are not going to find small farm hand raised pigs for $1 a lb. Might find 1.50 if you look real hard but $3 to 3.50 is not uncommon with corn prices as high as they are.

Just had 3 butchered asked the butcher what he would sell for 2.20 a lb checked the local grocery add and the guys i sell to dont complain after all its hard to find pasture pork raised on grass no fat couch potatoes here .(not sure if made a profit one of the little darlings (280 hanging weight) took a knee out loading )

I sell hogs by the half or whole. I sell for 1.25 live weight. buyer pays processing fees. I generally have about 225$ in my cost total and I sell hogs at 250-300Lbs. so I sell for 312$-375$ and i make around 100$ per hog. I do buy all my feed. hope this helps. I have never sold hogs at auction. I make most of my money selling 4H pigs then feed out the rest and i sell out every year.
