Corn Borer Special Tractors

Have a question about the Corn Borer tractors. I have seen 1 or 2 John Deeres but have not seen any Fordsons. According to the article I read about them, they made 440 JD "D"s and 360 Fordsons. Did any of the Fordsons survive? Also did the USDA sell them at some time? Thanks for any info.

The USDA had them built in 1927 to help get rid of the corn borer's after the corn was harvested. The tractors had PTO's and could be used to run a stubble beater. They had a rental program, for a $1.00 per acre farmers could rent them to plow and beat the corn stubble to get rid of the borers. They were available for use in NY,PA,OH & MI. The tractors had numbers assigned to them to keep tract of them.

I thought there were also some McCormick Deering tractors in that program, 10-20s I think. Something I saw on a tv show a few years ago.

The corn boer tractors weren't any different than the usual run of tractors.
Some people think that it makes them more valuable than the others. Sitting side by each to a regular production run tractor there is no difference.

I have never seen a model F or N Fordson with PTO. They did have a driveshaft extension that could be used to run an implement. Did that serve the same purpose?

I'm not aware of Fordson tractors in the USDA corn borer program. All that I know of are John Deere D's or McCormick-Deering 15-30's I think. John Deere serial numbers make them easier to identify.
