Dependzic had it right. I opened the release valve, pumped it several times and it works. Gonna try it on another one that's been sitting on the shelf for years. Thanks again to all that answered.

Thanks Bernie---I had a few of Sears 12 ton jacks and those were garbage---had to do that almost every time i used them--went to Harbor Freight and going good for 3 years now

I've got one that's been sitting on a shelf for at least 10 years I'm gonna try it on. I can't bear to throw away something that might be fixed.
