A few years ago, there was a tractor show not far from here and a girl wrote an article for a magazine about it. She wrote about the Farm All, the Allis Chamber, and the best one was the Cock and Shoot tractor.

My favorite is Allis Rambler(s). When I was in high school (Wauwatosa, Wi.), my friends mother would go on about the Allis family & how much money they must have from making tractors, close to where she lived in West Allis, & cars in Kenosha. Cracks me up every time I think of it!

You can imagine the confusion that arises when some people try to pronounce the name of Norway"s most famous agricultural machinery manufacturer Kverneland. I have heard Kernerveyland for one but the most popular misconception is when people think the K is silent as in the word "knife" so it becomes Vernyland or even Nervyland.

Roy is that the company that KUBOTA just purchased? They (Kubota) is introducing a new line of hay tools to the dealers here this weekend and they are made by a company over your way that I understand they just went out and purchased.

So how is it pronounced in American English? Around here we say "Kuh-vern-land" and one guy insists it "Never-land". Of course most folks say "Husk-a-varna" instead of "Hoose-warnya" too and it hasn't hurt their sales!

Around here I hear Huskverna

Yes that is right. The guy who wins the plowing competition is the guy who uses a Kverneland plow!
BTW I have it on good authority (i.e. a man who works for the company) The correct pronunciation is "Ker-verne-land". The K is NOT silent!
