Posted photos on here about 5 years ago when I went and go this scout. After total mechanical rebuilding , started in on the body. Drove it out of the shop Monday for the first time in over 4 years. I have owned 4 new ones and several used ones but this one will probably be my last. IH 396 v8 engine, headers, cam ,electronic ing, Body lift, spring lift, 33 in rubber, just on and on.
Old mans toy. Probably cost me 15 bucks to go for coffee in the morning but I am going to drive it some.

Looks great. Put it to good use since you spent four years on it. I take my Model A to Home Depot and other around the town errands. Not the most economical, but a lot of fun to drive.

Larry You are right, that is what ih used for the 4 cyl, they just cut 4 cyl off the v 8 engine. Used the same head ,distributor ,water pump and a lot of other common parts. Have a little 4 cyl 4 speed that I run around the farm with. Neat little engine and built tough.

A good friend of mine grew up near scranton PA ,He has told me many stories of a scout he had,When he was young the boys around town had what they called the drags. Whoever had 4wd trucks would each back up to the railroad tracks ,hook a chain to each truck and see who could pull the other over the tracks,One rich kid had a Dodge with fat tires and a loud engine, wasnt he surprised when a ratty looking little scout drug him over the tracks while all the other guys and and were drinking beer and watching the whole thing!

It's really too bad that International had a serious problem with rust. Those old engines were tough and durable, especially the old 345 that IH made a gazillion of to put in larger trucks.

My Dad had a Scout II. 2 wd with a slant 4. 198 CU. not much power, rusted out body. Brings back memories

Now that is nice coming from you since it is KUBOTA orange, right out of the can. Had a few green ones in my life, they never ran right LOL.

Glad you all like it, like ever thing else it took twice as long and cost about twice as much but life is just life, gota do what you want ever now and then. I think if I had it to do over I would get the short top but may still do that some day but I am just going to enjoy it before they put the salt on the road for winter snow.

Very nice!!! Always good to see someone's hard work pay off. This truck will better than any 'new' one you ever bought!

Enjoy the morning trips to coffee. I make my coffee run in my 1950 Dodge, which is my everyday car.

Looks fantastic--brings back lots of memories.
I have owned two Scout II, a Scout Traveler, and a 1977? Scout SS.
I have wished a thousand times that I had kept the Scout SS. It was a pristine model with 31K miles with four speed and 345.
I really got the looks and it sold for a premium in FOUR days.

That is the best looking scout I ever saw. They are/were tough as nails. But did they ever have a rust problem.

IH even tried making them "cool" in their ads.
