A couple of Spirit of 76 pictures for Sweetfeet!!

Sweetfeet. I tried to remember any IH special edition stuff other than the lawn mower. I came up empty.

Here are two other "Spirit of 76" special editions.

They are the 1570 Case tractor and the Lawn Boy push Mower.

I know there where some IH tractors at the Dealerships all painted up Red/white/blue. I just can't seem to find any pictures of them. They must not have had IH corporate backing.

Suppose it would be wrong to paint our cub to look like that... tempting though.
 
When I moved here in 92 there was one of the 76 case tractors up the road it was for sale but $10,000 was to much for me.
I have a "76" special train in my HO set.

I was fortunate enough to be employed about a half mile from the Rock Island railroad tracks in 1976 and saw many flatcars with the Spirit of 76 tractors passing by. Being a stupid kid, I didn't realize that the Railroad was nearing the anniversary of the 100 year promise/contract that they would exist until that time. Our younger generation won't know that what once was common is now no more.
 
I had 2 of those I got for my birthday that year. I let my brother keep them for a while and he lost them in a house fire.
 
I do not know what IH did for the tractors but I remember a dealer bring a red/white/blue ih scout to me in 1976. Like a fool I did not buy it. To this date I have never seen another one and I know this was NOT a dealer done promotion , had to be something ih did from the factory.
