A lessen I wish I had NOT learned.

Was helping a new neighbor that had just bought a place that had been neglected for a couple years or more. I was using my cub with the belly mounted flail cutting weeds, including ragweed over 10 feet tall, and cuckleburs that had dried to the point of being brittle. When the flail hit them they just disintegrated, including the pods. The little spines from the pods got into my clothes and by the time I finished and went home they had worked through my clothes and into my skin. I showered and got a lot out using a back scrubber that is made of stiff cloth, and still more by using one of those sticky lint rollers, but still have several of them stuck in my skin, bad thing is they are so little and light colored that even with a magnifier they can hardly be seen.

You might want to try running a pair of panty hose across your skin to pick the stubborn ones out. Dad taught me that trick years ago to get the itchy fibers from fiberglass insulation off/out of your skin, so it ought to work in your situation too.

I hear ya. We used to have horse nettle in the hay field. Try handling hay that has nettle in it. Gets in your clothes and skin and man does it drive you crazy.

Glad we finally got it all killed out of the hayfield.

(quoted from post at 07:50:01 09/25/13) You might want to make sure that mama never wears those pantyhose again.
t 92 years old, my Momma has quit wearing panty hose. come to think of it my wife doesn't either. It seems to be about cleared up now, but I will remember that if I am ever dumb enough to get into a similar situation.

Man,you must have some rich soil! I know rag weeds can grow tall, but I don't think that I have ever seen them 10 feet tall.

his was in an old pig pen. ragweed and cuckleburs were about the only thing growing in it. Standing up on the cub, my head was still 1 to 2 feet below the tops of the rag weed.
