Making memories with grandson

My 3 grandson's came over Friday night to spend the night. My oldest is 2, his little twin brother's are just 8 months old. So naturally when he comes out to see the "cows" (steers) he goes wild. So when the boys got there, I got my grandson and we headed to the cattle yard fence, sat down and pulled grass and fed the "cows" for about an hour. We had a blast! The little guy just loves to see "cows" at grandpa's farm.

Pretty cool! The wife has chickens, I raise feeder pigs for our own meat. Rabbits too, just don't know if the grandkids are going to buy off on butchering them. Few cows. The grandkids love it here. One of my granddaughters rode on the backhoe today. Had a blast. She's 6.

Ain"t it great! I tell everyone if I"d have known how fun the grandkids would be I would have had them first! Spent the morning sitting on the porch swing with one happy 3year old grandaughter telling me all about the hummingbirds we were watching feeding on the feeders .

Kurt have to agree the time spent with grandkids are the BEST, well next to our own kids thanks for sharing I had to add this pic taken a year or so ago with my third oldest granddaughter she LOVES granpa's tractor's and that seems some what rare anymore

You will remember that afternoon when you can't remember much else about that day.
I treasure time with the grandkids. My oldest is 24 and he still drops by to hang out and talk. The subject has changed many times over the years but the feeling remains the same.

I started taking one of my granddaughters to the beagle trial with me. They grow up so fast. Our time is the best gift we can give them or is it their gift to us?

I started out growing up on a farm. I still enjoy the animals. At the fair the livestock barns are my favorite place. And the smoked drumsticks and cinnamon rolls. All I have now are a few rabbits and dogs.

My kids grew up riding on the tractors with me, next the grandkids. This past Fourth of July parade we had six tractors in the parade. This makes memories that continue. Waiting for great grand kids.

That is great! You are a super grandpa.

That would make a great blow up picture to put in your living room.
I brought a small group of feeders yesterday. I picked one out of the group that was his pet. My grand kids always make a pet out of one so I figured he'd give them a good start. I'm just glad they understand that there comes a time he's going to have to go. I'm teaching them the same way my dad taught me.
