OT- plastic radiator tank

My neighbor has a GMC Envoy, probably mid 90s with a 4 cyl engine and one of their friends attempted to replace the thermostat and ended up breaking the neck loose on the radiator. Is there a product that will glue it and stand up to the heat and pressure? The radiator looks like it would be a beech to replace.

I think NAPA carries a product for that purpose. I bought a tube one time but then ended up replacing the rad anyway so I can't tell you if it works... Don't remember the name either... but there is a product out there.
I'd expect that cleanliness is critical if it is to work at all.

At that age, plastic has grown brittle, will crack and break at the slightest provication. Better off taking to radiator shop - have a new tank put on. I wouldn"t trust any glue job.

No.

A new radiator is a lot cheaper than a new engine. And if just the tank can be replaced, it makes no sense to repair it.

I'm pretty sure radiator tanks are ABS. ABS doesn't glue very well. In some cases it can be thermally welded, but I sure wouldn't risk it on a critical, highly stressed part like a radiator.
