Oil Pressure on 10-20 Mccormick?

I recently purchased a 10-20 in non-running condition. Got it fired up, but seems to have little oil pressure. I cleaned the guage and lines and guage seems to work properly. Do these machines normally have low oil pressure, or is this something I should be concerned about? It seems to run great with no bad noises etc. so I'm not really sure what to think about it.

Thanks for any input on this!

Those engines are not pressure lubricated. The oil pump only pumps oil to the oil troughs that the rods dip through, to the governor and on models with oil filters, through the filter. The oil pressure guage is a very low pressure guage that tells you the pump is pumping and you have oil in the crankcase. Joe

If you have 10 lbs you should be good, many have less than that and have no issues. the replacement gages you can buy are actually for the F12 and will show very low pressure or none at all on these engines. I have a gage that i use to check that is a 15 pound full sweep gage. I use that one to check the oil pressure and then put the original style back on after I know what the pressure is.
You should, after shutting down the engine remove one of the hand hole covers and make sure the oil troughs are full of oil. A plugged port in the spray bar will cause a rod to seek daylight. Everything else inside there should be dripping with oil. Then take the top off the governor housing and make sure there is oil reaching the governor and everything in there is well lubed.
