Antique gas tank leak

Was in the local TSC store yesterday picking up some chain repair links and browsing around. Saw a permatex repair kit for gas tanks. I have a leak in an antique tractor gasoline tank and am wondering if anyone has ever used the Permatex repair kit, and were the results good or bad?

I know the correct way to repair it is to have it boiled out and soldered, but the local shops do not want to work on gas tanks which I respect.
Just thought someone here may have had experience with the Permatex repair kit.

Thanks, Joe

I've used it a couple of times. It works.Just make sure the application area is CLEAN.Sand the site down to fresh clean metal.Apply as per directions.I once patched an aluminum overhead storage tank.held for 10 years-till I sold the tank..

Thanks Delta Red. I respect your advice and helpfulness. Wishing you all the best. Joe

I have repaired many with solder.

I did repair one once with a body filler called all metal it looks like alum. it worked .
