New Holland tractors

Ok New Holland guys i need some help, i'm in the market for a new to me tractor. I want to go with something New Holland but have never owned a New Holland tractor, I will be mowing hay on flat smooth ground in kansas with a 1411 New Holland discbine and baling round bales with a New Holland 654 baler. I have been looking at the ts110's with the power shuttle(i think is what its called), basicaly it has two ranges and 8 gears. I have also looked at at tl100. Do any of the TL 100's come with a powershift type transmission like the TS110's? Call me picky but in eastern kansas we have very thick brome grass so being able to down shift or up shift very quickly is very handy. Could someone kind of point me in the right direction? I am looking to spend $30,000 and no more, would like to find something with 3000 or less hours. Would the TL be able to handle those two implements. Thanks in advance for your help.

The 1411 needs 75 HP, more if you have much for hills. i would stay a way from the 16X16 transmission and look for one with the dual power which is much less electronics dependent.

I have a 5060 with shuttle and twin stick transmission and I love it, I have a friend that has a ts100 and that's what made me want one. His is the 18 speed with all the electrics and has cost him a lot of money over the years. I would not trade my twin stick for one.

Is the twin stick transmission the one with three ranges and then 4 gears per range? A 12x12 i guess it would be called?
What is the major malfunction in the electronics in the 16x16's?

Sorry im asking so many questions, i am just trying to get something figured out before the end of the year. Gotta spend some money so the tax man dont get it.

The 16 x 16 manual with shuttle work fine. The 24 x 24 Daul command works well also too(basically a HI-LO shift in many of the gears). Actually the 24 x 24 Dual command is the best seller of the three.

The 16x16 Auto shift have issues with the electronics. Circuit boards and wiring issues. I think the main issue is this is one of the earlier generations of NH electronic shift transmissions. They just did not have the bugs worked out of it. The tractors with the Auto Shift are the lower selling one of the TS 100 line up. I would not own one of these. When they mess up you are dead in the water and repairs are not cheap.

I've got a TS90 with the 12x12 transmission. It's OK. All of those 12x12's that I've seen have a nasty habit of locking in gear from time to time if you're not careful about how you shift them. Mine will lock in low range... That hasn't been a big problem but I always carry a screwdriver to remove the access cover in front of the levers so I can realign the forks... Really I suppose it's only done that mabey 5 times in 15 years... but I'm careful to make sure it doesn't. I don't force the low range shift. The 24x24 is the same mechanical transmission with a dual power feature.
For my own part I've never really been fond of the 12 speed layout. If I was buying another it would be a 16 speed. Some had electrical problems.... and then there's others out there with 12000 hours and never a glitch.

The TL I think can be had with the 12x12 transmission... but it's got a dry PTO clutch that would bother me. The TS has a wet PTO... TS is Ford heritage. TL is Fiat heritage for the most part... so you get an Iveco engine in that one and the Genesis engine in the TS.
Overall I think the TS is a better tractor.
Also be aware that with the 16x16 you get the higher end hydraulic system. The 12x12 models have the twin gear pump system which is basically open center... The other is a pressure/flow compensated system. I think the 24x24 also had the PFC system though I'm not certain. IIRC, it also had a wet clutch and reverser...

It is the opposite over here, no-one will buy the dual power TS or
7840s They burn out the clutches like crazy. The TS or 7840 SLE
with the shift button is the one to go for as long as it is the grey
chassis 7840, the bugs were mainly ironed out then. But just be
careful changing ranges on them tractors as the dumbell gear is
real easy to strip and costly to repair. Better to go for the TM
range, but you need at least the TM 135 to be any good as the
gearbox saps a lot of power.
Good luck with what ever you purchase.....of course I would
tell you to buy an 18x 6 speed Massey Ferguson 4270!

did you check into the TV140? With the 13' header on the front & the 1411 swung around to the side you should cut quite a swath, about 29 ft.. Used in Montana a lot. Hydrostat transmission & 105 hp. will eleminate a lot of shifting. Even without the header it should take care of all your needs.

I didnt know how good a TV would work for baling though, ive ran one with a disc mower on the front for my neighbor but ive never seen anyone bale with one.

It would be a big push to get a TV140 within your defined budget as well... At least around this area it would be. Snow blower guys keep the price up on them.

Theyre not really used for that here, we dont get enough snow. But ive never seen one in my price range. Usually around double my price range.

TL can be had with 24x12 and 24x24 transmissions that have a high/low power shift. Power shuttle on 24x24, synchro on 24x12. Electro hydraulic PTO on any of the 24x12 or 24x24 tractors.
