HELP!!!!!! 1945 John Deere Model "A". We are trying to get our fan shaft off. We have everything loose, but when we go to lift it up, there is a piece that looks like copper tubing bolted to the governer/fan shaft houseing. We can not break that bolt loose. Is it suppose to come loose? Do we just pull it out with the tubing on it?

That line runs forward and bends upward, going into the air intake, has the same nut on both ends, it should pull out.

I believe we may have that one off already. The one we're having trouble with goes straight down out from underneath the housing into where the gears are at. Is that the one you are talking about???

You need to remove the crankcase top cover and reach up
in there and undo that line. Line may now need reworked
as it may be damaged.

That line is an oil line that lubes the governor and runs to the oil gage. If you've already pulled on it, it may be bent and need to be replaced. This is why you need a manual, before you start taking things apart.

Look for kinking,twisting or cracks.

If it is reusable it may need some slight adjustment (bending) to fit back in right again and not rub anything or any of the connecting rods to hit it.

I'm pretty sure we all have forgotten to unhook an oil line before. After a few you get good at making .
