Walking Tractor?

My Grandma called it a Mule. I got it from my uncle. I just like old stuff. It was in a barn an said to run when parked. Turns over and has compression. Says (Burns?) on cross bar Anybody know anything about 'em? Is it a briggs engine? Year?

Certainly looks like a Briggs. That said, you'll need the serial numbers off the housing to get parts. Willing to guess carb will need work, and probably ignition.

I remember seeing ads for those many years ago, but never saw one first hand. They looked to be a real bear to handle and balance on one wheel.
That is a Briggs motor, but I have no idea if it is original to the machine.
Guessing, but think they were built in the 1950s and maybe early 60s.

Looks like a Bolens or a Choremaster. Perhaps Choremaster is a model of Bolens. I think I saw a picture of one in the Nebraska Tests book, If I recall correctly it was the smallest tractor tested.

Choremaster and Bolens are totally different in that the implement was on the back. This one is real odd in that the drive wheel is behind the implement.

Google plow hoss, power wheel, alabama mule, wizard(western
auto) maxim, or carter brothers. Carter bros burned down their
own factory, a coupla years ago, in north catolina, I think, jewish
lightning, dont'cha know! Maxim was still making them a few years
ago. I have 2 of them, with a big sweep, they can be used to dig
taters. Also had a pretty good left and right plows, as long as you
don't try to dig too deep. NOT a choremaster, for sure!

Diydave gets to ring the bell!! HE has a winner LOL

It would appear that the Maxim Plow boss is much the same machine you have.

That's a Briggs of the "easy spin starting" era. Those are some of the best as far as I am concerned. I haven't seen one that old in quite some time (at least late 70's), but the engine numbers should be on the cooling/starter shroud. Pull the three 7/16 bolts and look on the side that faces the front of the machine. I have the generation after that running here on the farm. It was a bear to find parts for that carb locally. I had to use something newer and modify slightly.

I had one like that once. It had a steel wheel with angle iron cleats and the engine was mounted inside the wheel. It had 4 cultivator shanks. I never did get it running and it has long since gone for scrap.
