Not too old but not something you see everyday now.

i remember them back in the late 60's -70's when i used to go for car parts.. now days these desk jockeys wouldn't know how to use them, because they can't even use paper and pencil today,,,lol

Readers like this are still used quite a bit in aviation for maintenance manuals. The cards are updated monthly and is one of the easiest and cost effective ways to have a full library that's FAA approved.

Used one of those in the early 1970s as all the
mainframe circuit diagrams were on microfiche.
Hated trouble shooting using microfiche as the
computer logic was spread over many pages and even
with two readers you ended up drawing a complex
circuit out on a piece of paper. Sometimes worked
in a bank cheque processing center and I remember
one bank that had the micofilming room next to the
cheque processing room and the fumes coming out of
that room would give you a headache. Today health
and safety would be all over the employer.
Next time I used one was at local library doing
genealogy research.

Yep, I put a lot of miles on one of those things looking up parts for small engines. Later they changed to one called Ultrafiche. I believe, it used a plastic card about 4 x 6 inches which looked like it was covered with black dots, but each dot was a full page.

I have sold a couple of the machines on Ebay with good results. Also sold several groups of the old cards for small engines with even better results.
