PTO Hyd Pump

Been loading round bales with frontend loader driven by Prince PTO pump. Loader has gradually started slowing down and refusing to lift bales less than full engine RPMs. Knowing fluid was starting to show signs of moisture and been sometime since filters changed, I replaced fluid and filters: has 10-micron on return and 25 micron on suction. No change in performance. Is it time to rebuild pump? If so, what"s a good source for kit?

Thanks,
Carl

Sadly, there"s no way to rebuild a work-weary gear pump, (unless you have $$$$ precision machine tools and some oversized gears).

I'd say like Bob, if this is mechanical, there's no cheap way out. So do the filters, hey too fine, and it could slow down flow enough to steal power, best to add, change fluid as recommend by the loader co, as a couple posts earlier this month, there may be a different in performance- and be sure there isn't air getting in the system, a little suction will kill all the power, check the fittings, joints and follow any drips. Good luck!

When the bearings, or bushings wear out, the slop
allows the gears to undercut the case, thus
allowing fluid to bypass, and loss of pressure,
flow, or both. Time to throw away your THROW AWAY
pump, and get a replacement.
OH, the metallic particles, from pump wear, in the
system, can cause a new pump to quickly fail, or
at least reduce pump life. Time to change fluid,
and filters. AND...those metallic particles will
be in all of your remote cylinders also!
