wireing for EI on a 62 frod 8 N front mount dis

I just acquired a EI for my tractor Ford 8n front mound distributor but I don't think its wired correctly ??? do you have the wireing scamatic for this tractor wireing the EI from dis to coil ??? they hace both red an black wire wired into the coil ?? don't think this is correct ?? or is it ?? I haven't a clue ---thanks Dennis

1952" & "front mount" do not go together. RED & black tells me 12 volt, unless someone has messed with wire colors. So, here we are not knowing what tractor or distributor that you have and not knowing which part number of perhaps a half dozen + Pertronix (maybe even Genesee) and yet, I'll go out on a limb & say, yes red & black to the coil (assuming a 'true' 12v coil). Other wise you likely need a resistor in there. If running, then why mess with success?
 
1962 Ford 8N no such thing never was.
1948 to early 1950 8N where front mount then in May or so of 1950 they came out with the side mount. Those ran till 1952 which was the last year they where made

You must have one of these system to work on your tractor the red wire goes to the egnition side of the coil the black to other side. If you make a mistake it will burn out the E. I.

alt, those numbers are for a V8 automobile engine, not N tractors.
 
Sorry I saw 42 to 48 and assumed it was for the tractor since no cars or trucks were made 42 to 45.

Ford 8N, 9N, 2N Ford Tractor 1939 to1950 Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit

This Pertronix "Points to Electronic Conversion Kit" fits Ford 8N, 9N, 2N  Tractors - 1939 to 1950 that utilized the Ford distributor which has the ignition coil being part of the distributor. The distributor assembly is mounted on the front of the engine. Also this is for a tractor that has been covered over to a 12 volt negative ground system!!!

Please read tips as these old Ford Tractors can be little tricky, but these notes should help you analize which version you need.

1. This kit is for models produced between 1939 to 1950 application using the Ford distributor that the coil is part of the distributor.

2. This kit will fit tractors having serial number 263844 & numerically down.

3. It will not work in 1950 & newer models 500 to 900 series that has the distributor mounted on the side of the engine.

4. It will not work with any 6 volt system, 12 volt negative ground only or have been converted to 12 volt.

I bought this tractor an was told it was a 8n Ford but when looking at others an the dates I was wondering if the year was correct----- now I know - thanks
 
just that its not running an I am not sure it is wired correctly --- why I am asking before I burnt it up with cross wiring -----thanks you did answer my question with the wiring on the color of red an black -- both go to the coil ??? looks like the black would go the ground ???? but I see it don't if your correct --- thanks
