disc mowers

I have never ran a discbine, but have worn out four disc mowers. You can set the tilt of the cutter bar by adjusting the center arm on your 3 point hitch to cut as close to the ground as you desire. Just thinking, a disc mower can probably be adjusted to cut closer than a discbine.

I have run both and a disc mower is adjustable by the top link to zero clearance if you want to level your ground. My NH discbine has the optional header tilt that allows you to adjust between probably zero to five inches on the fly. Both types actually ride on shoes that come in different heights to enable more clearance for "stony ground" as the manual says.

This year is the first time I ran a disc mower. Love the way it cuts. It was a pull type. I think a discbine would be GREAT. Normal haybine (Swather) is 16', and the discbine was 7'. All works out. because to the different speed. Just don't like that back cut with a pull type.

if ya got roks in the hayfield ,,best stay away from discbine , the rox about the size of your fist will cause the rollers and the spinners to play bat mitton with the rox until the spinners are beat to nuthin but junk

If you"re looking for a 7 footer, consider a DRUM mower. I got one to replace my sickle bars, and never looked back. Can cut as fast as you want to ride, no clogging, blades cost $10 a set, and take 10 minutes to change. Gear train is up overhead, and pretty much bullet proof.
If you strike rocks, probably the worst damage you"ll see is to the blades. Because it"s fairly heavy, you"ll want a tractor with some heft, or extra weights. My MF 180 is a great match.
I have one of these
