Sounds like a nice place to work but doubt I get there for a while at least. The next trip is again to the more Western and Mountain parks, plan on taking in Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon then visit our son in San Diego and daughter in Texas on the way home.

If I plan a trip to Harpers Ferry I will save this and look you up, thanks for the invite

A few more pics for yall enjoyment, some are Natl Parks others are not..

John suppose that you use one of those free senior passes to visit all those parks. Have ever wondered how many young families are turned away because of all the seniors spending two weeks in every park from nation to nation. Just one of my pet peeves as its impossible to get into most of the state parks here Oregon because of this. Maybe it should limit the number of parks one can visit.

Youre in the right neighborhood

First one is the twin sisters in Bluff Utah just east of the entrance to Monument Valley,,,,second is in the Valley of the Gods area just north and still east of Monument Valley

Yep, Bryce Canyon cant be mistaken

Walt, good comments, here are my thoughts that you asked: My pass wasnt "free", I worked hard and saved all my life and paid taxes which went in part to maintain the parks and only now that I'm retired do I have the money, opportunity and honor to visit those places I paid for all my life. The National parks belong to you and I and all Americans and I find great peace and joy and tranquility in visiting them, but if others choose not to visit I respect their choice to stay at home, but in turn expect them to allow me my choice to visit them. That sounds reasonable to me, let each choose to visit or not... I wont hassle others to stay home to avoid overcrowding if Im not hassled if I choose to visit lol

Im sure NOT one who would want to keep young families out nor keep out seniors who paid taxes all their life that helped pay for the parks so the next generations can visit them.

I think it would be tough to pass a law limiting how many parks a person could visit and I'm sure NOT in favor of such, but if you are talk to your representatives and maybe they will take it up??

God Bless you and I respect your choice to vist the parks or stay home, its your money and your choice, none of ours here

John I lived in my motor home for 3.5 years travels some and stayed in my home park when not doing work for the owner to pay my way. I know a lot of seniors who just go from one park to another all year they think it's great to get free parking for the rest of the traveling days but as said a lot of. Parks are filled to brim all year with these seniors and as you said they are for all of us. Since you think you worked all your life for this free stuff you might as well get all of them IE medical, food, lodging and so on. I also worked all my life but I think that one should not take advantage of what they get for free and remember that you were once a kid and who else enjoys and remembers their time in the parks. If the seniors keep this up our kids won't have these memories to live with all their life. When I was 15 sisters aunt took us to Yosemite I have never forgot the great time we had I was young and tough and walked to the top of Yosemite falls you can't do that at my age but I have that memory to keep until I'm gone.
Think about this and limit you time in the parks so our kids can have these memories. One free visit per park won't hurt you and it will let you enjoy and also others enjoy our great parks.

nice pics John sounds like you have a great time I have no idea what the "free pass" is all about my wife and I took some good friends from MI to several parks around where I live this summer had a great time at Devils Tower/Mount Rushmore/ Crazy Horse Monument as well as several other attractions in the Black Hills was a lot of people at them all but we fit in fine oh and Walt don't worry I paid my way each time spent well over 1000.00 in two days had a great time

No problem, if you think there ought to be a law limiting who!! or what ages!!! and for how long !!! people are allowed to visit a park go for it, but I doubt you will prevail. By the way IT IS NOT FREE there are camping fees and purchase of the pass and payment of taxes all ones life, its like the old saying THERES NO FREE LUNCH......

I wasnt aware one was entitled to "medical food and lodging" for free?? Where do you live lol I pay for all those things myself!!!! dont you??

So if you want to limit yourself to only one visit THATS YOUR CHOICE AND I WILL ALLOW YOU THAT AND RESPECT IT and of course, I'm sure you would allow me my choice of when to visit a park right?? or would you take that from me ???

God bless you and take care now, visit the parks and bask in their peace and tranquility is my advice, but if you choose otherwise by golly thats your right and I will NOT try to take that away from you......I will NOT force you to go there if you dont wish

John T

Thanks, I support your choice to visit the wonderful parks all you like but will allow those who dont want to the right to stay home lol

John T

NICE pics, thanks for sharing. Ive also been to Devils Tower and Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills and yes, like you, PAID for it but I support the people who dont want to vist or limit their visits as that makes more room for those of us who do like to vist Natl Parks yayyyyyyy its a win win

John,I will have to agree with Walt on this,I have put several hundred thousand miles on a RV when our family was growing up,but now my kids-grandkids can't get into a lot of State-Nat.Parks with their RVs because of too many seniors going in middle of week and staying till Monday and moving on the next park and doing the same thing again.

Last time I was at that Crazy Horse rock pile was 31 years ago this week, I don't see a lot of progress.

I agree with you John on the law thing, however I think some of these senior campers that have NO TIES to anything and fill these campsites with their mega $$$$$$$ RVs at times when the young couples can only go camping(school-vacations)are being selfish and self centered. You and I have no more rights then the younger generation, maybe not as many.

"You and I have no more rights then the younger generation" YOURE EXACTYL RIGHT, they have the same right to visit the National Parks they own the same as us Senior Citizens do who have worked and paid taxes all our lives to pay for those parks IM A BELIEVER IN EQUAL RIGHTS SAME AS YOU Major Dittooooooooooooo

Thanks,

John T

Maybe there needs to be a law passed that senior citizens can only stay certain times??? Im not in favor of it but hey good luck as we all have the right to petition the government for the passage of laws. I just doubt if it will pass so in the meantime Im going to visit as many of the National Treasures as I can just in case your side winds lol

God Bless you and very fun chatting with you about the great national park system, hope you get the chance to experience it, I pity those who dont

John T

Well - 'First come, first served' is the way it is and the way it should be - when the youngsters retire then they can be first - nobody ever said it would be easy AND 'camping' is always better out in the N'tl Forest anyway BUT - that's just me 8)

Actually, having paid for those parks for years and having no interest in visiting them, I think that access should be free. I pay my taxes as do most posters on here. So why is it people have to pay yet again to get in?

Rick

I went to Grand Canyon and Sequoia National Parks this summer. Had no problem finding a place to stay to visit the park, can't imagine how senior citizens are keeping young people from seeing the park. Plan ahead and worse case you stay outside the park and go visit during the day.
