Anybody see the two peices of flaming orbital space junk at approx 16:35 & 16:37 GMT heading due east? Crossed overhead at approx 82 degrees lat and 45 drees long.
Moving fast. Less than two minutes from the time they were in front of Venus until they burned out at probably 50 degrees longitude.
Not illuminated bight enough to video record on the iphone

I wish I had. I did see the skylab on its last orbit in daylight and beginning to leave a trail. Way cool. Jim

Missed this one. I did see one a couple years back. Smoking and flaming just like in the movies!!! I thought it was a plane going down at first! Really something to see!

I saw one last fall that looked like it landed in the green wheat behind the machine shed. It looked so close that I listened to see if I could hear it hit. It was the strangest thing I have ever seen. I looked during harvest for something that had hit, but I'm sure it was probably thousands of miles away.

Nope, but a few months ago I found a meteorite on the white gravel drive by the barn; 1", black, burned, imbedded pieces of white rock, when you put it on a grinder it grinds to a silvery metal, but then it oxidizes to black in a few days. Defintely not a rock, metal. Heavy.

You got that wrong, too. Greenwich Mean Time is 5 hours ahead of Central Daylight Saving Time. So, if it was 16:35 GMT, it was 11:35 CDST. Don't feel bad. I went to a meeting one time with a bunch of international captains, most of whom were wearing Rolex GMT IIs, and no one knew what the hell time it was where we were sitting at the moment.
We felt lucky that most of us at least knew where we were.
