I have a Massey 135 with the 3 cylinder Perkins gas engine.
I have a brand new alternator and a new regulator.
When I start the tractor the amp gauge pegs to 30amps. I let it run for a few minutes and it does not come down.
I have tested my battery with a load tester and it comes up good, and the battery connections are good and clean.
What am I missing ? Thanks for your help

If the voltage across the battery posts when running at 2/3 throttle is 14.2 to 14.6 all is well with the regulation. If the amp rate does not come down after running for 15 minutes the battery may have a bad cell (feel for a hot cell or check the specific gravity if you can 1.260 is charged, all cells very close to the same. If the voltage is high, the VR is not good. (assumes good VR ground) Jim

I have a 135 that was charging 18 volts I replaced the regulator, problem solved, now charges 14 volts.
